Theme: Praise

“Let them praise the name of the Lord, For His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven.”

Psalm 148:13 NKJV

1. Praise Begins With Recognising Who God Is

Psalm 148 calls all creation to praise the Lord: angels, heavens, sun, moon, stars, mountains, trees, animals, kings, young men, maidens, old men, and children. Everything that has been created is invited to lift up praise to the Creator.

To praise means to honour, celebrate, thank, and speak well of God. Praise is not only singing songs; it is the expression of a heart that sees God as worthy. When we praise Him, we declare His greatness, His goodness, His power, His holiness, and His faithfulness.

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

Psalm 34:1 NKJV

2. His Name Alone Is Exalted

Psalm 148:13 says, “His name alone is exalted.” In Scripture, God’s name represents His nature, character, authority, and reputation. To praise the name of the Lord means we are honouring everything He is.

No person, power, idol, achievement, or earthly glory can compare with Him. God alone is lifted high above all creation. Praise reminds us that He is not merely part of our lives; He is Lord over all.

“Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.”

Psalm 34:3 NKJV

3. His Glory Is Above Earth and Heaven

The word glory speaks of weight, honour, beauty, majesty, splendour, and greatness. God’s glory is the visible and invisible excellence of who He is. His glory is not something added to Him; it is the radiance of His own nature.

Psalm 148:13 says His glory is “above the earth and heaven.” This means that even the beauty of creation cannot fully display how glorious God truly is. The earth reveals His handiwork, the heavens declare His greatness, but God Himself is greater than all He has made.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.”

Psalm 19:1 NKJV

4. Praise Puts Our Hearts in the Right Place

When we praise God, our focus shifts from ourselves to Him. Praise lifts our eyes above our problems, fears, and circumstances. It reminds us that God is exalted, His name is powerful, and His glory is higher than anything we face.

Praise is not denying difficulty; it is declaring that God is greater than the difficulty. It is faith speaking before the full answer is seen.

“Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable.”

Psalm 145:3 NKJV

Conclusion

Psalm 148:13 teaches us that praise belongs to the Lord because His name alone is exalted and His glory is above all creation. Praise is our response to His greatness. Glory is the splendour and majesty of who He is.

When we praise Him, we agree with heaven, creation, and Scripture: God alone is worthy, God alone is exalted, and God alone deserves all honour.
